German-Japan Workshop on Brownfield regeneration 2015
mitigating perceived risks and stigma through image branding

10 March 2015 --11 March 2015
Science and Engineering Library, Osaka University

Workshop on "Brownfield Regeneration: mitigating perceived risks and stigma through image buildingfwill be held on 10th and 11th March in Science and Engineering Library, Osaka University, Japan. The workshop is supported by JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) and Obayashi Foundation. In Japan, brownfield issues concerning soil contamination have been increasingly recognized as a social problem. This workshop is designed to learn the Germany and Japanese experience in regenerating brownfield and mitigating perceived risks and stigma through image building. It is important for raising awareness of the shared experience of regenerating brownfield sites in an international context. Green Infrastructure may be one solution to the problem by providing multiple benefits to society (ecosystem services) while mitigating the negative perceptions and stigma related to (contaminated) brownfields.

This Workshop to share our experiences and knowledge on brownfield regeneration in an international context between Germany and Japan.
