International Workshop on Brownfield regeneration 2016
with Green Infrastructure (GI): Creating a Culture and Values

13 March 2016 --15 March 2016
Cybermedia Centre, Osaka University

Workshop on‘Brownfield Regeneration with Green Infrastructure: Creating a Culture and Values’ will be held on 13th - 15th March, 2016 in Cybermedia Center, Osaka University, Japan. The workshop is supported by JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science). In Japan, industrial landscape has become abandoned as brownfields resulting from the transformation of the social framework and economic structure. In this context, Green infrastructure (GI) has become a focus of attention as a new form of social infrastructure. GI may be one solution to the problem of brownfields by providing multiple benefits to society (e.g. restoring biodiversity and ecosystem services) while mitigating the negative perceptions and stigma related to (contaminated) brownfields.
This workshop is designed to exchange the EU and Japanese experience in regenerating brownfield with GI and creating a culture and values. It is important to raise awareness of the shared experience of regenerating brownfield sites in an international context.
